One You Haringey
Healthy lifestyle services tailored to individual needs for Haringey residents.
One You Haringey enables residents to access guided support to give up smoking, lose weight, reduce alcohol consumption and be more active. It also offers an NHS health check to help local residents to stay healthy and prevent conditions like heart diseases, cancers and diabetes.
Why is the programme needed?
Council data shows a 15-year gap in healthy life expectancy between the richest and least well-off parts of the borough of Haringey. The top five risk factors for long-term conditions, poor health and early death in Haringey are:
- Poor diet: 3 in 5 adults do not eat a healthy diet
- Smoking: Nearly 1 in 5 people smoke
- High blood pressure: More than 1 in 5 adults have high blood pressure
- Physical inactivity and unhealthy weight: Nearly 2 in 3 adults are overweight or obese
- Excess alcohol: 1 in 5 people drink too much
One You Haringey provides support for residents to bring about improvements in all these areas.
Plans for 2024
Haringey GP Federation will partner with Healum, a digital health behaviour change and patient management system to deliver the next four-year phase of the One You Haringey healthy lifestyle programme.
During 2024, a new personalised mobile app will be introduced to empower residents to understand and manage their health choices. They will be able to use the app to monitor their health, and to access personalised health plans to improve their health outcomes and their quality of life in the way that they want. The combination of community level insights and targeted supportive message will encourage positive behaviour change for more healthier lifestyles.
Residents will also be invited to get involved in supporting their community to live healthier lifestyles through a health ambassador programme.
Co-design with Haringey residents will mean that participants on the programme gain the targeted, personalised care and support they need to manage their health proactively and in ways that suit them best.
