Newly built modern premises for Charlton House Medical Centre, Tottenham
Charlton House Medical Centre has moved to a new, purpose-built property at 579c High Road, Tottenham, N17 6SB as part of a GP practice premises improvement programme in Haringey.
Based on the ground and first floors of a new four storey development, the facility is conveniently located just a stone’s throw away from the former GP practice site at 581 High Road, N17 6SB. The brand new building provides spacious and modern accommodation that is fully accessible for patients, with disabled parking spaces also available.
Charlton House Medical Centre was previously housed in an older property that was not fit-for-purpose and in a poor condition. There was limited accessibility for patients with mobility issues, while the cramped and outdated premises meant that GP practice staff lacked adequate space to deliver services.
With a current list size of over 6,000 patients, the new site offers increased capacity for the practice to accommodate future population growth and meet the health needs of local residents in the Tottenham area.
The Charlton House Medical Centre development represents the third in a series of primary care estates improvement projects, which aims to transform GP practice premises across the borough of Haringey. It will mean that patients are now benefitting from improved, modern facilities that support the provision of high quality primary care. A further facility, the Welbourne Health Centre, is currently in development and will serve residents in the Tottenham Hale area.
These modern fit-for-purpose premises have delivered an improved workplace environment which it is hoped will attract GPs and other healthcare professionals to come and work in Haringey, thereby helping to secure a more sustainable primary care workforce for the future.
Dr Natalie Cole, Clinical Lead at Charlton House Medical Practice and Haringey GP Federation said: "The whole team at Charlton House is delighted with the new, improved surgery premises. Feedback from staff and patients about the new building and premises has been hugely positive and the new facilities are helping our hard working team to support our patient community and improve health outcomes through high quality, responsive NHS care."
Rachel Lissauer, Director of Integration for Haringey, NHS North Central London Integrated Care Board, said: “We are really pleased to see that Charlton House Medical Practice has moved into its fantastic purpose built premises. The new improved facilities will benefit both patients and our dedicated practice staff equally and demonstrates our commitment to ensuring that primary care services are delivered from high quality estate." "We are confident that the practice will now be better equipped to meet the needs of the local community and support the health and wellbeing of residents in the heart of Tottenham.”
