Homeless Health Inclusion Team Away Day
Collaboration was the key word for the Haringey Homeless Health Inclusion Team last week as they convened their first away day.
The all-day event held at George Meehan House in Wood Green brought together the system partners behind this vital service for people experiencing homelessness in Haringey.
The Federation team welcomed participation from Haringey’s Primary Care Team, Barnet Enfield and Haringey Mental Health Trust (BEH) HHIT Mental Health Team, and BEH HHIT Dual Diagnosis Team.
Voluntary sector representation from Mulberry Junction, the Grove, HAGA, Thamesreach and homeless accommodations in the borough ensured full representation across the spectrum of service providers for this vulnerable patient cohort.
Lively discussions ensured the knowledge and expertise of the 26 participants was shared with the goal of invigorating the three vital service strands: staffing, eligibility criteria and referral routes. Innovation and ideas generated during the day promise to pave the way for future development of the service.
Marian Salek, Head of Integrated Services at Haringey GP Federation said: “A highlight of the day was the recognition of the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) as the backbone of the service since its inception. The pressing need to further enhance the MDT to support comprehensive discussions for complex patient cases was acknowledged, benefiting both the patients and the dedicated professionals navigating and championing their care”.
She added, “One thing that stood out at the event was the engagement. There was a real buzz in the room as representatives from different organisations got stuck into their discussions as part of a shared motivation to make improvements for patients in North Central London. This stood as a pitch perfect demonstration of the collaborative working model in action and underlined the strong shared commitment to the model from all present”.
